Named for Ma (間), a Japanese concept of the interstitial space, the stool draws on the idea that intervals and pauses give form and possibility to our experiences. This philosophy of an architectural interstice, introduced to Powerhouse Parramatta by lead designer Moreau Kusunoki, is expressed in undefined spaces that invite personal interpretation and use.

Touching on FEARON’s language of play, each stool is formed from a continuous folded sheet of brushed aluminium, transitioning from foot to foot in a fluid loop. Two coloured rods reinforce the structure and echo the colour language of the Lang Walker Family Academy interiors. With all purposes intended, this stool is built for high-traffic use indoors and out. You can use it as a tiny desk, a foot rest, or a portable seat wherever one is needed. Made in 2mm stainless steel, its knuckles are laser cut, rolled and pinned into an integrated hinge. Left with a matte, flat finish, it wears evenly, aging the way well-used furniture should. It folds flat enough to hang from a single finger-hole behind a door or on a wall, and pulls out again the moment an extra seat is needed. Prototyped and manufactured in Australia with Tait, the stool reflects the restrained, aluminium-toned interiors of Powerhouse Parramatta.

“Nothing makes me happier than seeing people use them.” – Adam Goodrum

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0585/0847/6595/files/20260910_PHM_ADAM_GOODRUM_STITCH_CHAIR_06.jpg?v=1790065822
loop-chair
Loop Chair

Adam Goodrum's Loop Chair was the first piece of furniture he ever designed, a folding chair made as a university project in 1993 and now reworked for production at Powerhouse Parramatta. The chair folds via three linked parts: a tubular loop that runs from the front legs into the backrest, a plate aluminium centre leg, and a seat moulded from recycled plastic by Defy Design, a company founded by Goodrum's former students. Sculptural enough to stand as its own object in a room, it pulls out easily whenever an extra seat is needed and folds flat again once it isn't. Its loop, leg and seat appear in yellow, orange, and teal, a palette developed with interior design studio YSG and drawing on the pure geometry of Memphis design.

“I really like movement and articulation, moving from one form to another.” – Adam Goodrum

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0585/0847/6595/files/20260910_PHM_ADAM_GOODRUM_LOOP_CHAIR_06.jpg?v=1790064284
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0585/0847/6595/collections/20260910_PHM_FURNITURE_COLLECTION_09.jpg?v=1790066541
