Hattie Molloy's Allium Vase responds to the distinctive exoskeleton of Powerhouse Parramatta with its criss-cross design shaping the vase's internal grate. Each vase is sand cast and hand-poured in Melbourne, then hand finished with a sanded top that catches the light, and a mirrored foot. The larger vase weighs six kilograms unfilled, its own weight anchoring anything from two bunches of tulips to a heavy branch, while a single stem holds upright with ease in either size. Suited equally to the dining table, the kitchen bench or the bedside table, it moves easily from room to room. Molloy, a florist for a decade, designed it from firsthand experience of being frustrated by beautiful vases that make flower arranging difficult - when it should be simple, joyful and uncomplicated.

“I want people to feel like they can do something really beautiful with ease.” – Hattie Molloy

Hattie Molloy

Hattie Molloy is a Melbourne-based artist and object designer whose practice explores the relationship between the natural world and contemporary form. Working across photography, floristry and installation, she challenges conventional ways of seeing, inviting audiences to discover the extraordinary within the everyday.
Her collection of sand-cast aluminium vessels extends this philosophy into functional sculpture. Developed to heighten our appreciation of botanical forms, each vessel creates a dialogue between industrial materiality and organic subject matter, elevating floral arrangements through sculptural composition and material contrast.

Based in regional Daylesford, Molloy's life and practice are deeply intertwined. An avid gardener, she is often found searching nurseries for rare plants to cultivate, foraging for botanicals and exploring local markets for objects whose textures, forms and histories quietly inform her work.
