Adam Goodrum's Restitch Stool descends from Stitch, the folding chair he first built from plywood at his kitchen table, a prototype Powerhouse has now acquired for its permanent collection. Made in 2mm stainless steel, its knuckles are laser cut, rolled and pinned into an integrated hinge. Left with a matte, flat finish, it wears evenly, aging the way well-used furniture should. It folds flat enough to hang from a single finger-hole behind a door or on a wall, and pulls out again the moment an extra seat is needed. Prototyped and manufactured in Australia with Tait, the stool reflects the restrained, aluminium-toned interiors of Powerhouse Parramatta.

“Nothing makes me happier than seeing people use them.” – Adam Goodrum

Adam Goodrum

Adam Goodrum is an industrial designer raised in Perth, Western Australia, who loved both art and mathematics at school and once considered training as an artist before choosing industrial design instead. As one of Australia’s most prolific names, he designs with the belief that an object must justify its existence through its own story and detailing, and his work accentuates components and joinery, giving each piece its own spirit and personality. Goodrum often returns to work he made years or even decades earlier, reworking it for production today, and finds expansion in collaboration, extending his design language.
